School Staff:

Mrs. Jennifer Freeman

Mrs. Jennifer Freeman obtained her undergraduate degree from Campbellsville University in Kentucky and her Master of Arts degree in School Administration from Gardner-Webb University. She is married to Justin Freeman and is the mother of one daughter, Addison, who is five years old.

Mrs. Freeman has served the students, parents and community of Mount Airy since 2002 when she began teaching music at Jones Intermediate School. In 2007, Mrs. Freeman accepted the assistant principal position at Jones Intermediate and performed in that role until 2011. In recent years, she taught music to Tharrington Primary and Jones Intermediate students, and chorus at Mount Airy Middle School. In 2013, she was the assistant principal at Mount Airy Middle School.

Mrs. Freeman currently serves as our school Principal and preschool lead teacher.  She is a member of Salem Baptist Church, where she serves in the music ministry and children’s ministry.

Mrs. Kelby Hall

Mrs. Kelby Hall – Preschool

Kelby Hall obtained her Associates Degree in School-Age Education, with Certificates in School-Age Care and Special Education, at Forsyth Technical Community College. She is married to Jacob Hall, and they have one son, Joel. Kelby is an active member at Simmons Grove Baptist Church, where her husband serves as youth pastor.

Mrs. Courtney Johnston

Mrs. Courtney Johnston – Kindergarten

Mrs. Courtney Johnston is married to K.C Johnston. She and K.C. joined Salem in November of 2016. She has started working in the children’s Sunday School ministry and plans to continue to find other ministries to serve in. Courtney received her Bachelor’s of Arts in Elementary Education from Lee’s McRae College.  Courtney ’s work experience includes YMCA camp counselor, several long-term substituting positions, Intervention specialists at Walnut Cove Elementary, and Fourth grade teacher at Rural Hall Elementary. Courtney looks forward to serving God at Salem Christian Academy and following God’s calling for her life in Christian education.

Mrs. Karen Peters

Mrs. Karen Peters serves as our 1st Grade teacher. In previous years, she has worked at SCA as a preschool teacher assistant.  She obtained her Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education through Lees McRae College. Mrs. Peters is a member of Salem and works with the youth group. She is the wife of Sean Peters and mother of daughter, Megan, who is a student at Chapel Hill.

Mrs. Stephanie Holder

Mrs. Stephanie Holder – 2nd Grade

Mrs. Holder obtained her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Appalachian State University. She is married to Blake Holder, and they have two children, Peyton and Brooke. Before teaching at SCA, Mrs. Holder served as a 6th grade teacher with Surry County Schools for five years. Her experience includes teaching Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies at Pilot Mountain Middle School and Gentry Middle School. Mrs. Holder is an active member at Amazing Grace Baptist Church, where she serves as a Sunday School teacher and helps with other youth activities.

Mrs. Jeanne Ramey

Mrs. Jeanne Ramey serves as our elementary teacher assistant. She is an educator with experience in both children’s ministry and in the elementary classroom. Mrs. Ramey is married to Tony Gray Ramey, and has two sons, Carson and Caleb, and a daughter-in-law, Adrianne. Mrs. Ramey is an active member of Mountain View Baptist Church, and serves in their children’s ministry.
